Dani Alves, the 39-year-old veteran Brazil right back, is bidding farewell to Barcelona for the second time, concluding his second stint with the club just five months after his return. Alves had previously played for Barcelona from 2008 to 2016, contributing to the team’s success with three Champions League victories and six Spanish league titles, among other accolades. His second tenure with Barcelona began in January on a free-agent contract that recently expired.
Despite a challenging season for Barcelona, which concluded without securing any titles, Alves made 17 appearances and scored one goal. His overall contribution to Barcelona comprises 408 appearances, marking the second-highest for a non-Spaniard, surpassed only by Lionel Messi.
Expressing gratitude on Instagram, Alves thanked the coaching staff for the opportunity to return to the club and wear the iconic Barcelona shirt once more. He humorously mentioned, “I hope you don’t miss my craziness and daily dose of happiness too much.”
Alves, whose illustrious career also includes stints with Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, and Sevilla, did not disclose his future plans. However, he has previously expressed his aspiration to be part of Brazil’s squad for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.
